Paolo Spalla

Valenza, 1935 – Valenza, 24 luglio 2010. Nature, light, wind, water and stone were the source of Spalla’s flowing creativity. An innovative goldsmith and sculptor, he got his inspiration from the River Po. His unique, idiosyncratic craftsmanship blends the elements of Po with wood, leather, Plexiglas and gold. Some of his finest creations can be found in the pieces he fashioned for Tiffany and Cartier. As a sculptor, Spalla followed the same principles of jewelry design, using mainly bronze, but also glass, stone, wood and marble. His “acrobat” was suspended from a rope in his living room, representing the difficulties of life. He was very good friends with Lucio Fontana and Saverio Cavalli.
